Ruth|er|ford atom «RUHTH uhr fuhrd»,
the atom as described in the atomic theory proposed by Lord Ernest Rutherford in 1911. The mass of this atom is located in its center, or nucleus, with electrons revolving about the nucleus much like planets revolve around the sun.
